Private tutor in Atlanta, GA

Education

B.A., Economics, UNC, 2014; M.Sc., Economics, Public Policy, The Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, 2015; M.A., Economics, Indiana University 2017

Experience

Former graduate teaching assistant in Economics at Indiana University (2015-2016). Currently, I am tutoring privately through Bloomington Tutors, specializing in economics, mathematics and statistics instruction. Why do you want to be a tutor: because I enjoy helping others grasp complex concepts and put them into perspective. Moreover, it's fun working with other people in general. Relevant classes I've taken: well.. let's see... last time I took stock of everything, I've taken more than 40 economics and economics-related courses at the university level since 2011. Other impressive items from your resume: I taught martial arts for 7 years when I was a child (2002-2009). Lived in England and Spain in my life time. My ratemyprofessor.com reviews for Indiana University are far too flattering and over-inflated, don't be swayed by them. In college, I finished a second B.A. degree in political science, and started a masters degree in comparative european politics, but left before receiving either one of those degrees because of an offer to study in Spain on a beach in Barcelona. To say I regret this decision would be an absolute lie. I have extensive policy analysis experience outside of my economics career as well. In 2012, I worked with u.s. department of state officials on policies related to the ongoing Syrian civil crisis that went on to form the backbone of U.S. foreign policy with respect to Syria.

Hobbies

Playing guitar, mathematics, learning to fly fixed-wing aircraft, training on my own to become a chef one day, working out. My hobbies include traveling the world to find nice places to eat and take pictures, get lost, and struggle to find my way home because I can't read the street signs. Professionally, I am a microeconomist who specializes in international trade, applied microeconomic analysis, game theory, and public policy analysis. In my own time, I'm studying topics in the fields of quantitative forensics, agency theory, and microeconomic theory with applications for business. I'm not a traditional or conventional teacher, which doesn't always work for some people. However, I'm a firm believer in "teaching the art of learning" and will work to find the best way to reach students, no matter what subject. Finally: my personality. I'm a 90's kid that has been stuck inside a somewhat intelligent individual. I'm rough around the edges, i make jokes, and I write long-winded interests pages.
