Education

In 2008, I graduated high school with an International Baccalaureate diploma and credits from the AP US History, AP Psychology, and the AP English tests. I received a double major (Bachelors of Art) from the University of Georgia in History and Sociology in 2012. Most recently, I completed my Masters of Art degree in History from Georgia State University. My major field was in 19th Century United States history, with minor fields in US South and gender studies. My thesis explored the role of Ladies' Memorial Associations in Georgia following the Civil War. In addition, I hold a certificate in Public History from GA State University.

Experience

For three years (six semesters), I worked as a student-athlete tutor, at both the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. Specifically, I tutored first year college students in lower level history and sociology classes they were required to take by the university. These were generally students who were struggling in their classes or international students who had no basis in US history. In addition to subject-specific tutoring, I assisted students with time-management, organization skills, and goal-setting. Generally, I met with students 1-2 hours per week over the course of the semester, but personally, I prefer longer tutoring sessions to cover more materials. I enjoy working with high school age students and older because the assignments are more challenging. It is a true joy to see students grow into serious scholars, especially as they prepare to enter college. In my own course of studies, I have take AP tests, IB exams, the SAT, and the GRE.
