Experience
I studied at Valdosta State University, where I worked as a teacher's aide for intermediate level Spanish courses. During this time, I helped struggling students improve their speaking and understanding. As someone who was close in age to the students I was helping, I was often told by the students that they felt more comfortable and confident practicing their speaking with me rather than with a professor.I participated in a university Undergraduate Research Symposium, where I drew the attention of a department professor who, as a result of my exposition, asked me to become one of his classroom assistants. This opportunity helped me gain the confidence to believe in my own work and talent. Shortly thereafter, I began tutoring Spanish to university students as well as people within the community. Through this, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to teach English grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary building exercises to migrant farm workers and their families. My goal is to inspire the students to develop a thirst for knowledge. For this reason, I believe that I am a successful tutor. I feel that my university experience has given me the tools needed to assist my students in their struggles. I take a keen interest in the students' welfare and success, and I refuse to skip over a student who has not yet grasped the material covered together.
