Experience

Hello, my name is Casey! For experience, I have over 5 years of tutoring experience. I tutored my peers throughout high school both in and outside the classroom and later on in an after-school peer tutoring program I co-founded. In the peer tutoring program, I focused on math subjects of all levels including trigonometry, geometry, prealgebra, algebra, AP Statistics, and AP Calculus. I have had experience in tutoring all class levels offered at my high school, which includes college prep, honors, gifted, and AP. I tutored for a small tutoring company MTU-EduCare based in Grayson, where I worked with elementary and middle school students. Specifically, I focused on grammar and CRCT prep for a 4th grader and tutored on general subjects for a 7th grader. I tutor through a coaching style. I like to first evaluate the student's understanding of the material. That way, I can meet the student halfway. I guide the student by helping him/her think through the process. I ask essential questions to help the student realize the steps by having them talk through their own thinking process. Understanding which questions to ask oneself is crucial to solving any problem. This also helps keep the student engaged rather than solely listening and watching. I engage the student by relating material to real life when possible. I also observe which learning style best fits the student, so that I may adjust to a style that works best for him/her. I strive to help my students grow not only academically, but also personally. I look forward to hearing from you!
