I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching Writing. My journey as a tutor began when I helped students who were struggling with writing at Emory University. After graduating, I joined the Peace Corps. I worked as a full-time teacher with high school students in Chad. After I returned, I began working with middle school and high school students as a full-time tutor. My value as a tutor comes from my ability to help students understand grammar. I am particularly adept at helping students diagnose exactly why they are having difficulties with their writing and what they can do to fix the issue. My philosophy as a tutor emphasizes connecting with students at an empathetic level and helping to motivate them to succeed. I have a talent for helping students see the big picture. Most students have a goal they want to achieve, and connecting their school subjects to the fulfillment of that goal can serve as a major motivator. I have had a lot of great teachers during my academic career, and my goal is to pass on the joy of learning that my teachers shared with me. In my free time, I enjoy distance running, hiking, rock climbing, watching college football, and watching movies.
