Experience

While in school, I quickly discovered that I had a passion for teaching history, college essays, Spanish, and SAT reading and writing. This helped me decide that I enjoyed tutoring and I worked to tutor my classmates throughout school and on into college. I feel that students work better if they realize that skills and assignments go together. My teaching method is to encourage studying efficiently and then through improving the reasoning of the student about the topic at hand. I am a full-time teacher and have two years of experience under my belt. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American History from Duke University and a joy for learning that is only second to my joy for teaching. Standardized Testing has become extremely important in today's educational system and I strive to help my students be prepared and ready to take on the challenge. In my free time, I love cooking, enjoy playing the cello, and running on occasion. I also enjoy yoga and like to travel whenever possible. With my Juris Doctor degree from the University of NC at Chapel Hill, I am beginning my career as a lawyer but look forward to tutoring your student as well.
