Experience
My goal as a tutor is to help youth develop academically and personally. I've been successful as a tutor and mentor, and my students have increased performance and gained confidence. I attended Morehouse College to earn my bachelor of science degree in math. I volunteered with AmeriCorps to help middle school and high school level students with math. I also created my own community service projects as a part of Global Youth Service Day. As a tutor, I understand what it's like to have difficulty learning a topic. I initially had trouble learning math myself, but I was able to work through learning obstacles and become successful. In addition to my math degree, I also have a physics minor. When I work with students, I mimic the approach my high school calculus teacher took. He helped us understand calculus by tying it back to concepts that we already understood in previous math topics. I do the same thing with my students to help them bridge their knowledge and apply what they already know to new challenges. I'm looking forward to helping students learn algebra, calculus, differential equations, geometry, multivariable calculus, trigonometry, physics, and beginning math and science topics. When I have free time, I enjoy puzzles, camping, sports, and playing games.
