3+ years of tutoring experience, including home schooling in 9th grade math, Algebra 1 and Geometry. Did well on the SATs and the AP Biology exam in High school. Did well on the GRE. I am very comfortable teaching study skills and test prep. Hi! I am a Public health Masters Student at Emory. I majored in Biology and minored in African Studies in college. Throughout my education, I have pursued the things I am passionate about and I am eager to share that passion with others. In college, I was elected student academic adviser for my dorm and helped first year students with everything from registering for classes and finding resources on campus, to forming individualized study plans and reviewing material. I also worked as a laboratory teaching assistant for an introductory Biology lab for a semester. In my senior year of college, I tutored two high school students in Algebra I and Chemistry respectively. With both students, I succeeded in increasing their accuracy and confidence in these subjects. After college I also helped home-school a student in Algebra 1 and Geometry. I am dedicated to each student's advancement and increased confidence in their studies and I aim to make tutoring as fun and engaging as possible. I firmly believe that we learn the most when we enjoy what we are doing, so tutoring sessions shouldn't be laborious. Every student learns differently, and I adapt my approach to the student's needs as well as what motivates them. Sometimes, that involves making a game of elementary math problems or spelling exercises, sometimes fun acronyms or visualizing math and science concepts is the most effective, and sometimes a student may be motivated by proving he or she can do a complex problem. I recently took the GRE and am happy to tutor students for standardized tests. Math and Science are the most fun subjects for me to teach, but I have experience with many subjects and would also enjoy working on English, Public Speaking, History, or Writing with students. I am eager to share my love of learning with you and help make subjects fun and approachable. If you or your child would like to improve in any of the subjects I've mentioned and think I can help, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to meeting you.
