James M.

Private tutor in Atlanta, GA

Education

I am a Georgia Tech graduate with a major in biology, a minor in physics, and a specialization in astrophysics. I am a physics research assistant, a math instructor at Mathnasium of Dunwoody, and a physics tutor. I spend a lot of time learning about numerical methods in physics and try to implement these methods into my research and projects. If you would like a full description of my background, then I encourage you to check out my website www.jamescmccord.com.

Experience

I'm an independent physics tutor and currently taking on students. I have been teaching math and science in different ways for the past five years and find it extremely rewarding. I think physics is incredibly interesting, powerful, and relevant in our modern society. I also understand that it can be difficult to grasp at times and could seem intimidating at first. Physics is difficult, but I firmly believe that it is tangible given the right perspective and, as always, lots of practice! I'm very patient with students and understand that different methods work for different people. I have a lot of experience with teaching students at all levels and firmly grasp introductory physics topics. If you're interested in working with me or just have questions, then please reach out!

Hobbies

In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, building models, and working on eclectic projects. Right now I'm in the middle of reading three books: The End of Time by Julian Barbour, Republic of Fear by Kanan Makiya, and Dreams by Carl Jung. My most recent personal project was a home server. Building the server was a fun side project that acted as a crash-course on building computers, networking, and website hosting.
