Juan C.
Private tutor in Atlanta, GA
Education
Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA — B.A., Spanish & English Literature (Double-Major) - 2003
Experience
7 years experience teaching Spanish at beginner, intermediate & advanced level (one-on-one & groups). I have worked for language institutes in Atlanta teaching Spanish to professional students (BellSouth, Wachovia, Coca Cola, IRS, HP, CDC & Military Personnel). In addition, since my academic background is in literature, I always enjoy working with college students who need help with writing compositions or literary essays as well as explaining complex grammatical structures. Furthermore, I like to primarily emphasize the importance of conversation. Most foreign language students learn grammar rules; however, later they realize (as working professionals) that they cannot use (speak) the foreign language they studied in college or high school. My main task is to provide theory and practice, I find both crucial.

Hobbies
I enjoy listening and studying different musical periods (from Baroque to Jazz, Hip Hop & Electronic sounds); I'm interested in sound theory and designing sounds via production software. Also enjoy films and some books, mostly critical and theoretical texts as well as a good old novel. Of course, my main hobby is thinking of better ways of explaining Spanish grammar. I enjoy correcting sentences, so I'm in search of a good sentence leading to a solid paragraph.
