Education

(2004 - 2009) BS in Civil Engineering at the National University of Colombia (2012 - 2014) MS in Civil Engineering at Ohio University (2014 - 2016) PhD in Computational Mechanics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2016 - present) PhD in Computational mechanics at Georgia Tech (transfer from UIUC).

Experience

I am currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering at Georgia Tech. I joined Georgia Tech in August, 2016 as a transfer student from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have been tutoring math and physics since 2006, and I enjoy it every single time. In my opinion, tutoring is a way to keep fresh all the concepts learned in college, and that is the main reason that motivates me to keep doing it. I started tutoring after I joined the department of Mathematics at the National University of Colombia as a teaching assistant in multivariate calculus from 2006 to 2009. During this time, I received a lot of positive feedback from the students. During the same time I used to be a private tutor for calculus 1 and 2, differential equations, and physics. I love tutoring with all my heart, but unfortunately I haven't tutored much after I moved to the US in 2012. However, I would like to continue tutoring in Atlanta. Since Spanish is my native language, I would also like to expand my horizons and try tutoring Spanish as well. Besides tutoring experience, worked as an instructor of Numerical Methods and Statics at one of the best universities in Colombia from 2011 to 2012. I have obtained several academic awards, one by the Colombian Society of Engineers, because I held the highest cumulative GPA among all Civil Engineering students at my institution. Moreover, I received the Young Researcher Award by the Colombian National Science Foundation in 2010. If you would like to know more about me, I invite you to take a look at my student bio in the link below: http://paulino.ce.gatech.edu/student_Giraldo_Londono.html
