I am a Language Arts tutor with fifteen years of teaching experience in upper elementary, middle school, and high school. My curriculum follows the Common Core Standards. Reading, composition (Compositions may also include: Narrative essays Expository essays, Persuasive essays, Technical writing essays, Research essays. I offer individualized instruction based on your child's needs. I am a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, with an undergraduate degree in English Education (7-12). Also earned an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S) degree in Business Management; TEFL Certification and a Linguistics Certification at Florida International University. I offer comprehensive tutoring and summer enrichment programs in all areas of Language Arts; ESL, and Spanish. Reading Comprehension and Literature, writing, grammar and vocabulary: * reading / writing strategies * guided reading /writing * fluency * story, essay, and literary elements * vocabulary * english / Spanish grammar * novels, fiction, and non-fiction selections I work with students entering grades four through twelve. Remedial, standard, and advanced instruction is available. Private, semi-private, and group sessions are also available. I define my approach to teaching English and foreign languages as rationalistic since I encourage critical thinking and a desire among my students to communicate. I provide specially classes tailored according to your needs. More of my tutoring services include proofreading, editing, test-preparation, and assistance reading writing k-12 and university research papers. I have a passion for writing. We all have plenty of pastimes and I’m no exception. No matter where I am, and I have found that doing things I normally do anyway in the language I wish to practice has been the best way to encourage me to really speak it. I’ve played chess in Italian, read computer and women’s health magazines in French, taken dance lessons in Portuguese, and chatted in Facebook in Arabic. As a Certified translator, it's easy for me to translate text into any foreign language. However, to speak...is more complicated! I enjoy participating in church activities; love culinary arts and nutrition. I like all water sports and gymnastics.
