| Preferred Subjects: | I specialize in standardized test prep using a very flexible and adaptable weekly lesson plan for SAT, ACT, or MCAT. Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geometry, Algebra, Writing. (Some AP exams included.) |
| Education: | I recently graduated from Emory University (Atlanta, GA) last May with a BS in Neuroscience. Afterward, I received my certification in teaching Science from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. I have a passion for medicine and hope to attend medical school in the near future after teaching. |
| Experience: | My passion for tutoring piqued when I was a pre-school and elementary school teacher. The training I received allowed me to develop a teaching style that is effective and transferable to many subjects and students' needs. I believe in initially gauging the student's level of proficiency and learning style in the particular subject and then practice, practice, practice through challenging examples. After tutoring pre-schoolers, I have more than enough patience and persistence! My hope is that being both a certified teacher and intensively preparing for the MCAT has provided me with both a sufficient level of proficiency in the sciences and math and the ability to tutor the subjects on a level that is most effective to current students. After tutoring for various companies over the years, I've come to realize that an emphasis on the psyche and confidence of a student is just as important as focusing on content. In this regard, I use a weekly lesson plan that has been passed down to me from tutoring agencies and also aim to be available for questions/concerns as much as I can. In addition, I collaborate with Anupriya Gangal (also a University Tutor) and, between us, we can work out scheduling conflicts etc. You don't need to pay $55/hr or hire a PhD student to see improvement -- just someone who's as invested in your results! (Please don't let price or time stop you from seeking assistance. Contact me and we can work it out.) |
| Hobbies: | I'm definitely an outdoors guy. I've played soccer competitively since I was in elementary school and enjoy pickup basketball and football games. I'm also somewhat of a chess geek. I have played chess since I was in 3rd grade, but I miss it now since players are tougher to find as you get older. As for sports, I'm a die-hard Memphis Grizzlies and Arsenal FC (English soccer) fan! |
