Education

Double majored in Philosophy and Political Science at University of Georgia. Graduated with Cum Laude for both degrees in 2015. More in details below. Education I went to Georgia Perimeter College and later transferred to University of Georgia. I received my two degrees, Political Science and Philosophy, from UGA this summer and graduated with Cum Laude from Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and School of public and International Affairs. I have always been on the Dean's List during college and enrolled in the Honors program at some point as well in order to challenge myself academically. I am a member of various honor societies such as Mu Alpha Theta, Phi Theta Kappa, and Golden Key Honors Society, and was invited to join Phi Sigma Pi Honor Fraternity and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. I was also invited to apply to certain Ive League school such as University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, and Columbia University; I decided to stay in Georgia mainly because of the weather, cheaper in-state tuition, as well as cheaper living costs.

Experience

Introduction Hello potential parents and students! My name is Meng Yang, and my English name is Elena. I grew up in Shenzhen which is a city near Hong Kong in China, and I moved to the United States about 8 years ago with my family. Qualification After I graduate, I had been working full time in a language immersion school as a teacher. I love the students there, but being a full time teacher is pretty time consuming, so I decided to resign form that position and start private tutoring again in order to make time to prepare for my LSAT exam. I have been tutoring since high school on subjects such as math and Chinese, and I have also worked at several learning centers and school over time such as Kumon and English first. I have taught English in China and Chines here, so I understand the transaction very well. I speak Mandarin, Cantonese, English, as well as a little French and Japanese. I'm still actively learning Japanese and French on my own as a hobby; it also helps me to understand how to effectively teach my students a language that is completely foreign to them. After years of teaching, I learned to start different learning programs for different students based on their goal for learning Chinese as well as their age group. I give my students homework as well as worksheets that I put together on my own; I only use some materials online for help when needed. The highest math course that I took in college was Calculus II, and I finished all my math and science courses with As. I am confident to say that I am good at the math materials that I have learned in school.

Hobbies

I love learning different languages. My other interests include politics, animals, cooking, tennis, psychology, math, and comedies. I only teach the subjects that I know well so that I can make sure to help others to understand them well. I am planning to attend law school in Fall, 2016. I am also open to ideas such as tutoring at my house for long term students as well as classes with more than one students and will consider applying a lower hourly rate for that.
