Experience

I have more than 15 years' experience in helping students be accomplished in reading and writing. During my undergrad studies at Northwestern University, I taught dance in the Chicago area schools and made the decision to pursue an education career. I earned a master's in secondary education from Emory University and am currently researching at Georgia State University as a PhD candidate. My teaching experience includes high school English, theater, test prep, and dance. In addition, I coordinated an International Baccalaureate Program. Tutoring remains my connection to students of all ages and grade levels and I enjoy helping them hone their natural talents to reach their academic goals, and foster an enjoyment for learning along the way. It is very important to me to realize the individual needs of my students and help them advance their skills and confidence in all subjects, and I am rewarded with those moments when a student sees a full comprehension of material. With older grade levels I am skilled at assisting with homework strategies and test taking. My teaching strengths are in reading, writing, public speaking, and college preparation, and I strive to bring tangible connections to enhance student's overall understanding. My hobbies and interests include dance, reading, outdoor fun, and family time.
