Tristan B.
Private tutor in Atlanta, GA
Education
I am a Senior Economics Majpor at Georgia State University. My current GPA is 3.3 and my expected graduation date is Fall 2016. I earned my Associates degree from Georgia Perimeter College in 2013 before transferring to GSU. During the summer of 2014, I was earned a scholarship to attend the Mises Institute where I attended lectures regarding various subjects of Austrian Economic Theory. I was also one of the very few selected there accepted to take a Constitutional Law class taught by Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano.
Experience
I interned at the Foundation for Economic Education, an economic think-tank that specializes in student outreach. My role there was compiling student resources through study packets and monthly news letters. My overall SAT score was roughly 750 and my ACT score was roughly 18. I want to be a tutor because I love teaching. Ever sense I was young, I would always attempt to share valuable information that I learned with others. Growing up, I had my fair share of bad teachers. But I also was fortunate enough to have excellent teachers who greatly impacted my educational career and taught me well beyond the class material; I wish to emulate those teachers in all that I do. I see teaching not as grabbing the student by the hand and carrying them to the answer, rather I see teaching as guiding the student to the answer by walking with them and seeing what new things could be learned along the way. Being a teacher means being humble, willing to know when you're wrong, and remaining curious. As I mentioned before, I was one of the few who attended Mises University 2014 selected to take Judge Andrew Napolitano's course in Constitutional Law. I was also selected earlier this year to intern at the Foundation for Economic Education, America's first and oldest Free Market think-tank.
