Experience
My personal passions are history and political science, which became part of my undergraduate degree from U Penn. I enjoy the process of debate, so I became a volunteer debate teacher for middle school-aged students. Then, I moved on to teach college test preparation to high schoolers. I also eventually created a college prep curriculum that combined the two most frightening parts of the process for many high school students: the standardized college tests and the application itself. The curriculum I created spanned 6 months. Most recently, I have worked for two years teaching history with Teach for America, a nonprofit that trains teachers like myself, then places us in low-income classrooms. I enjoy helping students on an individual basis to develop test-taking and study strategies for standardized tests from the Advanced Placement exam to the SAT. The best strategy that I can teach my students, however, is self-confidence. I understand how important it is for students to practice not only the subjects they struggle in, but also study and test-taking strategies that can help them succeed. When they know how to study, the students will feel confident in all academic subjects going forward, including my two passions, history and politics.
