Private tutor in Atlanta, GA

Education

I received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia as a pre-veterinary wildlife major with a 3.5 GPA. I received a master's degree in biochemistry from Georgia State University and graduated with a 3.7 GPA.

Experience

I have been tutoring with StudyPoint Inc. for three years and have also done private tutoring for five years. In addition, I have experience as a university teaching assistant for general chemistry and organic chemistry laboratory classes. Most of my tutoring experience is in SAT and ACT test prep; however via private tutoring I have experience in physics, high-school math, biology, and chemistry. As most of my post-high school studies have been in science, I am highly proficient in the fields of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, and physics. Through StudyPoint Inc., I have taken numerous tutoring courses to improve my teaching methods and connect with students.

Hobbies

I recently graduated from Georgia State University with a Master's in Biochemistry. In addition to being a student researcher and teaching assistant, I tutored throughout graduate school. I love surrounding myself with knowledge in the forms of both teaching and learning. My primary approach to tutoring is fairly relaxed. It is much easier to learn in a non-stressful environment. After gauging where a student is in his/her learning, I like to build from the bottom up, starting with basic rules, strategies, and common problems. Once the basics are learned, tutoring becomes more focused on repetition and crystallization. In this way, I promote comfort and confidence during test taking. Though I do spend a great deal of time in school-related activities, my greatest two passions are music and rugby. While I am mediocre at creating my own music, I absolutely love listening to all types of music in many different languages. I am also a member of the 4th nationally ranked Women's Premier League rugby team the Atlanta Harlequins! I did not discover rugby until college, but it has quickly become a huge part of my life both on the field and off the field. If I ever get a free moment to watch TV, more than likely, I'll choose a rugby game. My favorite team is the Australian Wallabies!
