Joy K.

Private tutor in Atlanta, GA

Education

Graduated May of 2012 from the University of Georgia with a 3.6 GPA and dual degree in Biology/BS and Sociology/BA.

Experience

My qualifications in teaching mostly come from my coursework throughout college. Some courses I have taken include Biology I & II, Physics I & II, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cellular Biology, Immunology, Human Physiology, Ecology, Microbiology, Calculus, and English Literature. In the past year I have privately tutored 8 students total whom have both showed exponential growth in their grades, SAT/ACT scores and ability to comprehend material. I thoroughly enjoy the subjects that I teach, so I am very enthusiastic in trying to make the material as accessible as possible. I am able to break down information in several ways that allow my students to easily understand the subject in question. I do not try to feed students answers or simply work out problems for them, but instead allow the students to attempt the problems themselves and help them along the way. My strategy in tutoring aims to teach the students not only the material, but skills to figure out how things work on their own, which will ultimately be the most valuable lesson I will provide them.
