Education

Bachelor of the Arts in Anthropology with minors in Archaeology and German from State University of New York at Plattsburgh, in Plattsburgh, NY, with an overall GPA of 3.25. Master of the Arts with Merit in Museum and Artifact Studies at Durham University, in Durham, United Kingdom, official graduation date: January 2012

Experience

As an undergraduate I was a tutor with the Literacy Volunteers of America, where I taught basic language and reading skills to adults with both special needs and who were learning English as a second language. As a graduate I was a tutor for native-Chinese speakers in English as a second language, and an essay marker for essays and dissertations. I have been educated in both French and German. I lived for most of my life on the New York- Quebec border and learned a good deal of French as a child and throughout school. I have been a frequent visitor to Quebec and to France. As an undergraduate I chose to concentrate in German and picked it up as a minor, where I became well versed in German vocabulary, grammar, and literature in general. I consider myself very well versed in History, Anthropology (Social Studies), and Archaeology, the three of which I have spent the majority of my university career studying. I have participated in two archaeological excavations, and have extensive experience in the conservation and restoration of historical objects. As a graduate student I particpated in three courses relating to education within museums. I believe that these courses have given me a greater understanding of how children and adults learn as a whole. The most important thing I learned was that every individual learns differently, be it visually, audibly, sensory, etc. I want to be a tutor because I believe it to be a rewarding experience. I believe that my time abroad for my graduate degree, and my experiences in archaeology and museums have afforded me a unique outlook on education that would be beneficial to many an individual looking to learn a variety of subjects.

Hobbies

I consider myself to be a very relaxed and happy individual. I enjoy volunteering at museums, reading, and watching comedies on television. I am also an avid viewer of programs on the History, Discovery, and National Geographic Channels. I love travelling, and am always looking for the newest, most interesting places to go. I love working with children, and because of this I would consider my dream career to be working for education in museums.
